Hi! I am Vida, the lady behind Little Black Dress And Pearls.
I spend most of my time in the digital sphere, working for an online magazine for executives. After work, I hit the gym and sauna and melt away the day's tire.
Here I'll talk about my journey to Minimalism, how it ties with my faith, and living an elegantly simple lifestyle.
My Minimalism Story
I am completely enamored by the concept of Minimalism. I strive to live by it every single day. I first learned about it through The Minimalists. After (still) learning more about Minimalism, I realized how profoundly it resonated with how I wanted to live my life.
I had my share of being caught up in the vortex of consumerism and materialism, being a slave to wanting more. Yes, I still remember me back then who would save up money to buy more clothes, more gadgets, more things. Just like any other girl, I love(d) to shop, and seeing discount signs make my eyes widen. Long story short- I wasted precious time and energy pursuing material happiness and ended up feeling empty.
I refused to continue being a slave.
My first radical move when I started on the road of Minimalism is decluttering my closet. Before that happened, every few weeks or months my closet would end up in chaos and I had to waste my time re-arranging and re-organizing it again. There were piles of clothes I didn't use anymore, and those clothes represented my energy and time being kept at hostage. When I finally freed my closet of space, I felt more relaxed. I know that inside my closet is my favorite clothes that I actually wear on regularly, and I don't have to spend 10 minutes deciding what to wear.
Of course, it's not just about the clothes and I know I still have a long way to go, and I would love you to join me on this journey.
Little Black Dress And Pearls
A lot of people have already translated their take on Minimalism. For me, I see it in the little black dress and pearls ensemble. Just like how Audrey Hepburn carried it with grace and elegance, this duo quaintly radiates the simple and classic elegance that transcend ladies of all generations.
Also, it is the ultimate go-to outfit. A girl can never go wrong with it. I believe there is nothing wrong with making it as your staple/uniform outfit. So for me, the little black dress and pearls is a liberation from senselessly following trends, freeing you from trapping your energy, time and money from mindless shopping and filling your closet until it bursts. You finally don't have to answer the question that every girl dreads: "What am I going to wear today?"
So join me as I tread the road of Minimalism and I hope you'll be inspired to take back the reins in your life and live it in simplicity and elegance.
